Q. What is Islam made up of? A. Islam is made up of 3 things:

1. The Pillars of Islaam

2. The Pillars of Imaan

3. Al Ihsaan

Q. What is al Imaan?

A. Imaan is to believe by affirming in the heart, to confess by the tongue, and to act by the limbs.

Q. What are the pillars of Imaan and how many are they?

A. the pillars of Imaan are 6 and they are:

1. To believe in Allaah

2. To believe in the angels

3. To believe in the books which Allaah sent with the prophets and Messengers

4. To believe in all the messengers and prophets

5. To believe in the Last Day

6. To believe in al Qadr, the good and the bad of it

Q. Does imaan stay the same level?

A. No, imaan actually increases with good deeds and decreases with bad deeds and sins.

Q. What is al Ihsaan?

A. al Ihsaan is to worship Allaah like you can see him and even though you cannot see him, He sees you.

Q. Does al Ihsaan have pillars as well?

A. No, it doesn’t have any pillars but only one, which is the one we just mentioned.

Q. What is the meaning of “La ilaha illa Allaah?”

A. It means, “None has the right to be worshipped except Allaah”

Q. What are the conditions of La ilaha illa Allaah?

A. its conditions are seven:

1. al yaqeen or certainty

2. al Mahhabah or Love

3. As-Sidq or truthfulness

4. al Ikhlass or sincerity

5. al Ilm or knowledge

6. al Qubul or acceptance

7. al Inqiyaadh or submission

Q. What are the pillars of the word of tawheed?

A. its pillars are 2: an-nafee which is to negate. This is in the part of the shahadah, La ilaha or “there is NO god”. The second pillar is al ithbaat, which is to affirm or accept. This is in the part of the shahadah illa Allah “except Allah”

Q. What is the greatest thing that Allah has ordered?

A. at-Tawheed(affirming the oneness of Allah)

Q. What is at-Tawheed?

Tawheed is to single out Allah in what is specific for him such as his rububiyyah, uluhiyyah, and His names and attributes.

Q. How many categories are there for the tawheed?

A. There are three well known categories:

1- tawheed al Rububiyyah

2- tawheed al Uluhiyyah

3- tawheed al Asmaa was-Sifaat

Q. What is tawheed ar-Rububiyyah?

A. This is the Tawheed of Allah by His actions, it is His lordship. Allah’s Lordship over His creation means that He alone is their Creator, Master and Regulator of their affairs. He has created everything.

Q. What is tawheed al Uluhiyyah?

A. It is to single out Allah in His worship. This is the tawheed that is most often denied by people.

Q. What is tawheed al Asmaa was-Sifaat?

A. it is to single out Allah with His names and attributes. This tawheed has caused many debates and deviations among the muslim ummah.

Q. what is the benefit of at-Tawheed?

A. it protects one from eternal punishment and guarantees being guided in this world and erases one’s sins. If tawheed is missing, then the person gains no good deeds even if they do it.

Q. what is the greatest sin?

A. ash-Shirk billaah or to make partners with Allah in what is for Him only.

Q. How many categories does the Shirk have?

A. there are two categories:

1- Shirk al Akbar or Major Shirk

2- Shirk al Asghar or Minor Shirk

Q. What is shirk al Akbar and give an example.

A. It is to make shirk with Allah in things which are specific for Him only like: making duaa to other than Allah, slaughtering to other than Allah, making sujud to other than Allah. This shirk takes one out of Islam, Allah never forgives this sin of shirk al Akbar, the person who dies with it will be in hellfire forever.

Q. What is shirk al Asghar?

A. it is what has been recorded from the Quran and sunnah, it is not like shirk al Akbar. The person, who does it, doesn’t get out of Islam. They are still muslim but are a hypocrite (munafiq), the person who dies with this shirk, may be forgiven by Allah and doesn’t stay in hellfire forever. This shirk leads to major shirk. Examples of this shirk: swearing on other than Allah, and saying something like, “if it weren’t for Allah and so and so….”

Q. Why did Allah send Messengers?

A. Allah sent messengers so that they can call the people to tawheed and to save them from shirk.

Q. What is the consequence of shirk al Akbar?

A. Entering hellfire and remaining there forever.

Q. Is Allah with us?

A. NO. Allah is not with us physically but is with us by His knowledge and hearing and seeing us.

Q. Where is Allah?

A. Allah is above the heavens.

Q. Why did Allah create us?

A. Allah created us to worship him with the correct tawheed and not to make shirk with him.

Q. What is Ibadah?

A. Ibadah which means worship. It is, everything that Allah loves and is pleased with whether it is words, actions that are hidden and apparent.

Q. What are the types of Ibadah?

A. There are many types. From them:

Calling on Allah(dua), Hope and fear of Allah, trusting in Allah, slaughtering to him, and making oaths, and other legislated types of ibadaat.

Q. How do we worship Allah?

A. Like the way, Allah and His messenger ordered us to.

Q. What is the greatest duty we have after Allah and His messenger?

A. The duty towards the parents.

Q. What are the conditions for acceptance of deeds?

A. 1- imaan in Allah and having proper tawheed.2- Having sincere intention and this means to do the deed for the sake of Allah without showoff. 3- To do the deed according to the way of the prophet.

Q. What is al Walaa and Al Baraa?

A. 1- Al Walaa: to love Allah, His Messenger, and the companions, and your brothers and sisters, the believers.

2- Al Baraa: to hate whoever goes against Allah, His Messenger, the companions, and the believers. It is to hate kufr and its adherents.

Q. who are the awliyaa(friends,allies) of ar-Rahmaan(Allah)?

A. they are the pious believers who stick to the Quran and sunnah.

Q. Who are the awliyaa(friends, allies) of Shaytaan(the devil)?

A. they are the ones who go against ar-Rahmaan(Allah), who do not stick to the Quran and sunnah. They are the disbelievers and hypocrites.

Q. What is nifaaq?

A. Nifaaq is hypocrisy. It is to show Islam on the outside and hide kufr and hate for the truth in the inside.

Q. How many categories of nifaaq are there?

A. There are two: 1- Nifaaq in belief 2-Nifaaq in actions.

Q. What is the Nifaaq in belief?

A. It is to show Islam on the outside and hide kufr in the inside.

Q. What is Nifaaq in action?

A. It is to do a major sin which some believers do at times such as, lying and breaking of trust.

Q. What is at-Taghut?

A. at-Taghut is to follow anything that is worshipped, obeyed, or followed besides Allah.
